The Diabetic Foot Clinic at Al Zahra Hospital Sharjah were pleased to welcome the sweet lady patient who travelled all the way from the Sultanate of Oman to visit us for her foot problem. She was reviewed by Ms Safina Khan, Podiatrist and Dr Nadeem Akhtar, Consultant Plastic Surgery.
The patient was referred for blood works and an urgent CT Angio Scan. The patient was advised that depending on the investigation results, a suitable management plan will be provided. This may also require input from an Interventional Radiologist, Endocrinology consultants, Vascular specialists, Orthopaedics and/or Plastic surgery department.
The Diabetic Foot Care Clinic is a first of its kind initiative set up by Miss Safina Khan, a UK trained Specialist Podiatrist and Dr Nadeem Akhtar, HOD & Consultant Plastic Surgeon in Sharjah & Northern Emirates.
The aim of the clinic is to simplify the process by which patients receive treatment by the correct doctors and at the right time. Any delays may cause problems that can be difficult to fix later on. The treatment pathways are based on protocols established in dedicated specialist centers in the UK alongside International Guidelines. These are tried and tested. The clinic is backed up by a Multi Disciplinary Team, to address ALL issues, regardless of complexities.
Al Zahra Hospital Sharjah is the only private hospital in Sharjah & Northern Emirates with such an initiative. The clinic accepts referrals from within the hospital as well as outside.
